dc.description.abstractABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a type of metabolic disease that always experiences an increase every year in countries throughtout the world. Patient knowledge about the process of healing diabetic foot injuries is a tool that can help sufferers carry out diabetes management so that it can change its behaviors. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of health education on the knowledge and attitudes of patients with diabetes mellitus in the process of healing diabetic wound at Asri Clinic Wound Care Center Medan. This research was a Quasy Experimental Pretest-Posttest with control group that was conducted in April-July 2019 with a population of 195 people and a sample of 36 people. The result showed that the respondent’s knowledge increased from less knowledge (55,6%) to good (100%) while in the control group that remained sufficient knowledge (72,2%). The respondent’s attitude increased from less (100%) to good (50%) and sufficient (50%) while in the control group it was still enough (100%). Paired Samples Test Results knowledge and attitude in the intervention group obtained p value of 0,000 < 0,05 means that there is an influence of health education on increasing knowledge and attitudes towards the wound healing process. While the knowledge control group Paired Samples Test results obtained p value is 0,289 > 0,05 and the attitude of p value 0,705 > 0,05 means that there is no significant difference in the average knowledge and attitude before and after. The conclusion of the research is the influence of health education to improve the knowledge and attitudes of patients with diabetes mellitus in the process of wound healing. It is expected that health worker will conduct socialization and skills training about the process of healing diabetic wounds in patients with diabetes mellitus.en_US
