Abstract: Dentallhealth problemssalways have significanttinfluenceeon the healthhand well-being offannindividual. The improvementtof oral hygieneeis extremelyyimportanttto evaluate in associety with theeaim of decreasing the spreaddof infectioussdiseases. This hassbeen a healthhpolemiccwhich remainssas aabig taskkfor theemedical world.tTherefore, manyyresearcherssare interesteddin utilizinggnatural materialssas anaalternative, insteadoof using antibioticssbecause it’s safer. The naturallmaterials areeusually easy to obtain and have affordable price. Theeaim of thissstudy is toeevaluate the antibacterialleffect of Californiaapapaya leaffon the growthhof Streptococcusssanguis. Californiaapapaya leaffis extracteddby macerationnand issdivided intosseveral concentrationssnamely, 40%,660% and180%. Then the extractssare tested for theeantibacterial effecttwithddisc diffusionnmethod (Kirby-Bauer test). Baseddon the statisticctest resultof one-way ANOVA, it showsssignificant value p =00.0009(Pp<00.05) on all 33concentrations of theeextracts. Itmeanssthat all 3 concentrationnof the extracts, namelyy40%,60% and 80%sshow significanttvalue on inhibitionnagainst Streptococcusssanguiswhere theeaverage diameterrof inhibiting growthhzones aree8.67 ± 0.2160mmm, 9.85 ± 0.16433mm,210.58 ± 0.19411mm. Tossum it up, theepapaya leaf extracttof 80%cconcentration showssthe highesttinhibitingeeffect againsttheegrowthhoffStreptococcusssanguissbacteria
