Hydroquinone, often used as a whitening agent in face creams, is an active compound that is able to control the production of pigments by reducing or inhibiting the formation of skin melanin. The purpose of this study was to compare the levels of hydroquinone contained in facial bleach sold on the market with the whitening cream prescribed by a doctor. This research is a descriptive study carried out through journal search and selection, documentation, data analysis, and drawing conclusions. Through research conducted in two journals on the analysis of hydroquinone levels in whitening creams sold on the market it is known that 12 samples tested contained hydroquinone while 4 samples did not contain hydroquinone. While research conducted in two journals on the analysis of hydroquinone levels in whitening creams prescribed by doctors shows that 8 out of 9 samples contain hydroquinone. The hydroquinone content in whitening creams sold on the market does not exceed the 2% limit while the whitening creams prescribed by doctors contain these compounds but are still in concentrations that are allowed to be used and used under a doctor's supervision (BPOM, 2007- Indonesian National Agency of Drug and Food Controlen_US
