ABSTRACT Dental caries is a disease of the hard tissues of the teeth characterized by destruction of the dental pits, fissures and interproximal areas and extending towards the pulp. Dental caries can be caused by cariogenic (sweet and sticky) foods. Children aged 6-12 years are susceptible to caries because they have a habit of consuming sweet and sticky foods, habits that are not good for dental health. This study is a systematic review of 10 articles published from 2018-2020 and aims to find out the correlation between cariogenic food consumption and the incidence of dental caries in elementary school children. Based on the results of a study of 10 articles, it was found that the consumption of cariogenic food was in the bad criteria of 90%, while the incidence of caries was 100%; and found a correlation between consuming cariogenic foods with the incidence of dental caries with a percentage of 100%. This study concludes that there is a correlation between the consumption of cariogenic foods and the incidence of dental caries in elementary school children. Children are advised to reduce the consumption of cariogenic foods to avoid the incidence of dental caries.
