Abstract: | Red cotton candy is a kind of traditional snack, taking the shape of a sweet pink woolen thread. Regulation of the Minister of Health of Indonesia (Permenkes RI) No: 033 of 2012 stipulates the dye Rhodamin B as a hazardous material that is prohibited from being added to food. This research is a descriptive study carried out in the form of a systematic review of 5 articles and aims to get an overview of the use of Rhodamine B dye in red cotton candy circulating in the community. This study examined 33 samples. The examination was carried out using thin layer chromatography, spectrophotometry, and test kit methods. In article 1 (Retno & Vivin, 2016) 1 positive sample was found to contain Rhodamine B; in article 2 (Dahlia & Hardiono, 2013) found 2 positive samples containing Rhodamine B, in article 3 (Rina & Gusti, 2018) found 1 positive sample containing Rhodamine B, in article 4 (Ir. Nasiti K, M.Kes, 2015 ) it is known that 3 samples contained Rhodamine B, and in article 5 (Herdianto & Isra, 2017) did not find Rhodamine B content; This study found 8 samples of red cotton candy were positive for Rhodamine B. With the discovery of the dye Rhodamine B in red cotton candy, community members are expected to be careful in choosing snacks, to avoid negative impacts on health. |
