Malaria is an infectious disease caused by parasites (protozoa) of the genus Plasmodium and transmitted through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito which is known to consist of 5 species: Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium ovale, Plasmodium malariae and Plasmodium knowlesi. This research is a descriptive study conducted in the form of a systematic review of 5 journals obtained from the Google Scholar database and aims to obtain an overview of cases of malaria infection through microscopic examination. Through The results of this study were obtained from 5 articles that the number of positive cases of malaria infection based on age was found to be the most in adults, namely those aged over 15 years. Based on gender, most malaria cases were found in men and based on the type of Plasmodium that was most often found in positive cases of malaria infection was Plasmodium falciparum., because Plasmodium falciparum has the highest morbidity and mortality rate and Plasmodium falciparum is the most virulent species compared to the other four species.en_US
