Abstract: | MEDAN HEALTH POLYTECHNIC OF MINISTRY OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT OF NURSING SCIENTIFIC PAPER, FEBRUARY 2023 Evi Zeli Astuti Mendrofa*Minton Manalu, SKM.,M.Kes**Tiur Romatua Sitohang, S.Kep.,Ns.,M.Kep** NURSING CARE FOR CLIENTS WITH PULMONARY TB WITH INEFFECTIVE AIRWAY CLEARANCE IN PANDAN REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL, CENTRAL TAPANULI DISTRICT IN 2023 ABSTRACT Background: Pulmonary Tuberculosis (pulmonary TB) is a disease caused by the bacterium mycobacterium tuberculosis and most often attacks the lungs, and is transmitted through the air. Based on a preliminary survey at Pandan Hospital, it is known that there will be 127 people with tuberculosis in 2021 and in 2022 there will be an increase of 173 people. Objective: Provide nursing care to clients with pulmonary TB, with ineffective airway clearance at the Pandan Regional General Hospital in Central Tapanuli Regency in 2023. Research method: This research is a descriptive qualitative study, using a case study approach, examining 2 respondents and carried out at Pandan Regional Hospital, Central Tapanuli Regency in 2023. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, physical examination, and documentation studies. Results: assessment of client I: he complained of coughing up phlegm for 3 weeks, sweating at night, weakness, after coughing effectively, and breathing 20 times/I, pattern and frequency of breathing improved, sputum production was 3 (moderate category); whereas for client II: a man, aged 51 years, the main complaint was coughing up phlegm for 3 weeks, shortness of breath, difficulty expelling phlegm, sweating at night, and difficulty sleeping, after effective coughing, breathing 20 x/i, breathing patterns and respiratory rate improved, breath sounds crackles, dyspnea (+) decreased, sputum color was white mucus, sputum production was 4 (moderately decreased). Conclusion: based on research results, problems with ineffective airway clearance in pulmonary TB clients can be overcome by effective coughing exercises.
