Abstract: POLYTECHNIC OF HEALTH MINISTRY OF HEALTH MEDAN TAPTENG D-III NURSING PROGRAM SCIENTIFIC WORKS, MARCH 2023 Saprul Simanjuntak* Yusniar SKM., MKM* Faisal SKM.,MKM NURSING CARE FOR ELDERLY WHO HAVE DEMENTIA WITH A DEFICIT OF SELF-CARE IN SIPAN SIHAPORAS VILLAGE, SARUDIK DISTRICT, REGENCY CENTRAL TAPANULI Abstract Background: Dementia is a condition in which a person experiences a decrease in memory and thinking ability, this decrease in ability causes interference with the functions of daily life which can affect self-care, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and elimination. One of the nursing problems that arise in dementia clients is self-care deficit. The method used is a type of qualitative research in the form of a case study to explore nursing care for clients with dementia who have dementia with self-care deficit nursing problems in Sipan Sihaporas Village. Data collection was carried out on two elderly people with dementia who met the participant criteria using interview, observation and documentation study techniques. The planned nursing interventions are from assessment, counseling and other activities. The results of the case study on Mrs. D and Mrs. N, the main complaint data obtained is that they often forget when they have taken a shower or not. Both clients got one main diagnosis, namely self-care deficit. Nursing actions are carried out by carrying out nursing interventions regarding Self Care Deficits. Conclusion: After a 3-day visit, the evaluation results of the two clients experienced an increase in self-care, so that they could fulfill self-care. The conclusion of this study is that elderly people with dementia who experience nursing problems with self-care deficits must be immediately given continuous nursing care.
