UJI BAKTERI PADA AIR MINUM ISI ULANG YANG BEREDAR DI JALAN TARUMA KECAMATAN MEDAN PETISAH

Abstract

ABSTRACT Water is one of the most basic human needs. The clean water scarceness reservign for daily drinking water consumption is a problem that many face today. To meet drinking water needs, one alternative to choose is the use of refill-drinking-water, available at low prices. However, not all refill-drinking-water is guaranteed in term of the safety of its products. The quality of refill-drinking-water is still doubtful due to the allegations of contamination with pollutants that are harmful to human health, as a result of poor handling and processing. This study aimed to determine the Coliform bacteria MPN index and the presence of E. coli bacteria that pollute refil-l drinking- water in Jalan Taruma, Medan Petisah Subdistrict. The samples of water, about 200 ml, was taken using a sterilized bottle. The series of methods carried out were bacteriological tests: estimator, assertion, and complementary, and IMVIC test. The results showed that depot A of drinking water at Jalan Taruma Medan Petisah District had a high Coliform bacterial MPN index, at 4 per 100 ml, while depot B was free from Coliform bacteria
