Abstract: | Nowadays antibacterial substances are many in meticulous, either chemical or natural compounds to inhibit the development of bacteria. The Salam leaf extract (Syzygium polyanthum) and chitosan nanoparticles have been widely anti-bacterial "Streptococcus mutans", so many researchers have developed such substances to achieve the maximum effect of their antibactericidal substance. This research has a purpose to see an increase in the effects of Salam leaf extract –Kitosan nanoparticle 1% against the growth of Streptococcus mutans bacteria. The process of maceration was done on the leaf extract and its concentration was changed to 50%, 75% and 100%, mixing with chitosan nanoparticles 1% with a ratio of 1:1. Disc diffusion test method ( Kirby-Bauertest) to see the effectiveness of antibacterial. Statistical test One way ANOVA showed significant number p > 0.05 with the results of Salam leaf extract concentration 100%, 75% and 50% -chitosan naoparticle 1% in inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus bacteria is 13.45 ± 0.2881 mm, 12.67 ± 0.2733 mm and 11.52 ± 0.4070 mm. Salam leaf extract -chitosan nanoparticles have a strong antibacterial effect on the "Streptococcus Mutans" bacteria of each group The research done, the highest effect of the concentration of leaf extract concentrations 100% -nanoparticles chitosan 1% by 13.45mm |
